Presentation

The UCF public administration undergraduate program prepares students for careers in public service at the federal, state, regional and local level. Areas of specialization include management and policy analysis, budgeting and finance, personnel, city management and planning.

A unique feature of the program is the extensive number of internship opportunities in Central Florida that provide students with the hands-on experience they need to obtain full-time employment in the public sector. Ongoing relationships, primarily in local government, exist in the fields of planning, budgeting, finance and human resource administration.

B.A./B.S. Option

Students pursuing the B.A. must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language equivalent to one year in college. To complete the B.A., students are also required to take core courses in areas such as budgeting and finance, public policy, personnel administration and organizational theory. Upon completion of these courses, students should identify a career path and choose appropriate electives. The program at UCF requires students to select electives from among public administration courses and from other disciplines depending upon career interests.

Students pursuing the B.S. must satisfy six credit hours from the approved list of science/technology courses.

Prerequisites

  • Introduction to Computer Science
  • American National Government
  • Principles of Economics

In addition to these courses, the UCF General Education Program and Foreign Language Admission Requirement must be completed.
