Presentation

 The mission of the Dietetic Technician program is to prepare students to be competent dietetic professionals who recognize the importance of critical thinking and who have good communication skills. Likewise, a strong work ethic and sensitivity to cultural diversity are encouraged. The program endeavors to promote self worth and self-confidence as students achieve the foundation, knowledge and skills as well as the competencies established by the Commission on the Accreditation of Dietetic Programs (CADE).

To facilitate the transfer of credits to four-year programs leading to a baccalaureate degree in nutrition, Briarwood College has articulation agreements with the following institutions:

  • University of New Haven
  • St. Joseph College
Goals
  1. To prepare competent entry-level dietetic technicians.
  2. To provide a Dietetic Technician program that consistently meets the CADE accreditation standards.
  3. To provide a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, including the need for critical thinking and communication skills.

Accreditation

The Dietetic Technician Program is granted accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education of the American Dietetic Association. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for the national registration examination for certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR).
