Early Care & Education (college credit available)
You can begin a career today in the growing profession of a child development and education. Kiamichi Technology Center's performance-based program is designed to help you acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to become employed in this rewarding field. An early childhood professional contributes to our society by being a positive influence on children. You will have an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child.
Upon completion of the program students may obtain employment as a teacher of young children in a variety of positions such as professional nanny, day care, preschool, nursery school, head start teacher or assistant. The Early Care & Education Training program provides the opportunity for students to gain the competencies necessary to obtain the National Child Development Associate Credential and Oklahoma Department of Career Tech Child Care Teacher and Teacher Assistant Credential.
The Early Care and Education program is a college prep course for students pursuing a career working with families and children such as schoolteacher, coach, psychology, counselor, pediatric medicine and many other related areas. Students have an opportunity to gain college credit for the successful completion of the Child Care Training course.

The Process:
The Early Care & Education Training course is designed to meet the individuals' needs and learning styles. Students will experience a combination of lectures, multimedia presentations, group activities, work-site training, and written assignments. Emphasis is placed on developing a high standard of work ethics and good character.
Student Organization:
All students are encouraged to get involved in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) organization. It is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills and become a part of a team, which strives to serve children, families and our community. Students will be involved in leadership training, a variety of competitions, social activities, community service, and of course fundraising. Experiences gained through participation in FCCLA are valuable memories of a lifetime.
Enrollment Information:
Area high school students should consider KTC as an extension of their home high school. They may choose to attend either the three-hour morning or afternoon session with the remainder of the day spent at their home school. Adult students may attend either time or all day.
