Early Childhood Teacher Education Programs support the development of those who care for and educate children between birth and age seven. The seminar, artistic and practical courses are designed to complement each other in an integrated, developmental process. Ongoing experience with young children in a Waldorf setting is an integral part of these programs.
The Full-time Early Childhood Teacher Education Program is a one-year program with Master’s degree option. It runs from September through May. The prerequisites for admission into the Full-time Elementary Teacher Education Program include completion of a Foundation Studies course (button linking to Foundation Year) that meets the Sunbridge requirements. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, a Course Completion Certificate will be issued, and a Master’s Degree in Waldorf Education for those who have completed the requisite coursework. After two years of successful professional experience in a Waldorf school, the Diploma in Waldorf Education is issued on request with a letter of recommendation from the school’s faculty chair.
Master of Science Degree in Waldorf Education
The Master's Degree Program runs concurrently with the Certificate Program and includes two additional courses and an independent project. The program is open to all students with appropriate personal objectives who fulfill the admissions requirements, which include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a B average in the major field and a minimum GPA of 2.7. Submission of Graduate Records Examination scores is not required for admission. When students are admitted to a degree program, all decisions regarding credit transfers are finalized.
