Associate of Science Degree in International Hotel & Tourism Management
Career opportunities in the hotel and restaurant and tourism industry are excellent for young people with good training in this field. The most challenging and best-paid work in middle and upper management usually goes to those who have practical training and the right academic qualifications.
Hotel Management Concentration
Offered at the following campus(es): Florida, Engelberg, Leysin, London (first year only)
Students in this two-year program take a selection of both required and elective courses and participate in SIU’s internship program that gives them valuable practical training. Courses include language instruction and practical experience in food service, kitchen operations and computerized front desk service.
Tourism Management Concentration
Offered at the following campus(es): Florida, London
International tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the service and business fields. Schiller International University’s unique and exciting program offers the opportunity to study at campus locations in both Europe and the United States. Instruction by our thoroughly qualified cosmopolitan faculty, many of whom are practitioners in the hospitality field, experience with the use of computerized reservation systems, and an introduction to the language and culture of more than one country provide students not only with a solid business administration background in tourism, but also with actual experience in the international atmosphere of this exciting profession. One or two semesters may be spent at the Engelberg campus, with degree studies to be completed in Florida or London.
Food Service Management Concentration
Offered at the following campus(es): Florida
Studies in Food Service Management give the student the background and confidence to start a food centered career such as kitchen supervisor or assistant dining room manager, leading to banquet or catering manager, and eventually food and beverage director positions. This program of study is a blend of hands-on experiences along with an exposure to the principles of business management as practiced in successful freestanding restaurants, commercial food service operations and hotels. One hundred sixty (160) hours of internship are required to graduate, and the student has the option to complete these hours at the Schiller owned and operated hotels in Switzerland.
