This program provides students with the basic knowledge and skills that will qualify them to work as an entry-level Medical Biller, performing the front office duties as a medical clerk working in the clinics/hospitals/medical groups, and also as a Health Claim Examiner working with insurance companies.

Students will be exposed to billing forms, eligibility guidelines for Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and billing procedures for Tricare, Blue Shield/Blue Cross, and Workers’ Compensation.

 Students will learn the use of ICD-9 and CPT books for coding diagnoses and procedures. Students will use computers to perform simulated practice of medical billing procedures using the Medisoft application software.
