RADIO
Radio: it's here and always will be. Every listener has a favorite station, favorite show and favorite "DJ'". Radio is a career that's rooted in passion. While communicating with thousands, DJs are reaching individuals one-on-one and building a special relationship with each listener.
What makes the radio program at the New England School of Communications unique is its hands-on approach to learning. Within the first week of class, students are creating assignments in the production facilities and by their second semester, students are on the air.
WHSN 89.3 FM, the student run radio station, is the centerpiece of the program, broadcasting 24 hours a day, year round. Nescom students hone their skills in a college station that operates with the professionalism of a commercial station: from music selection and show production to sports and news programming.
At NESCom, students develop on-air personalities that entertain, broadcast journalism students discover the excitement of field reporting and news production that keep their audience informed while sports play-by-play students broadcast all of Husson College's collegiate athletic events.
With broadcast studios that rival any commercial studio in New England, WHSN is equipped with the latest technology; a Scott Studios automation system, digital audio consoles and the Associated Press NewsDesk software.
At the New England School of Communications, a career in radio is exciting and each day brings something new. If you like speaking, ad-libbing and you love music; this could be the career for you.
